Sports management committees or authorizations are the form of an authority that takes the major decision about/of the sport they are related to and are a power of authority over the players and the teams. The sports management teams are given an authority and the authority is to look over the teams and players and mentor them in tough times.

But as we know, with power comes responsibility and it is fairly easy to misuse power or even over use it. This is what leads to conflicts, problems and politics within the teams and the management ultimately leading to sour relations and poor performances by the players.

The sports management authorities are basically present to mentor the team and encourage them while also taking the major decisions for the team but very often this mentoring goes too far and the team members feel suffocated by the pressure that has been laid upon them, they are expected to follow every decision made by these authorities which sometime might include how to play and how to perform better at the field. But what the authorities forget is that it is the player’s individual talent and his way of tackling the sport, which is why he was selected in the first place and they cannot and should not try to alter the way a player or even a team for that matter plays, advising the team and forcing their decisions on the team are two different things.

A lot of times the team’s performances falter because of this very reason, they are expected to play in a way that they are unaware of. Also, on the other hand apart from regulating and controlling the sport, the sports management has the power to select or not select a player to represent their country at a much larger platform and it is a very common case that more often than not their decision is influenced/driven by and is a result of politics, which becomes very unfair to the player so, politics is also one reason why the team is kept deprived of talent they could really use. This level of interference by the sports management also leads to conflicts within the team.

Players need to have good looks on the management

How, one may ask. The fact that every player wants to be in the good books of the sports management authority also results into favoritism because the players are usually well aware of that fact that it is in the hands of the sports management authority to make or break their career alongside their performances and in the process they try to mold themselves according to the mentor’s wishes and it results in poor performance by the player(not always, sometimes it maybe for the betterment of the players).

In closing, yes the sports management authority is an integral part of any sport or game and sans it, it would have been really difficult to manage sports and the players. The sports management authority(example: The BCCI) has done wonders for the Indian cricket team and for the cricket as a whole in a nation like India and has definitely given the Indian cricket team some great players and the world some tough competition in the field of cricket.

Politics in management affect the players behavior

But it is also very often that we listen to politics being brewed within the authority and team members which has more often than not resulted in performances that are not worth appreciating. it should be left on the coach and trainers to train the team accordingly, building pressure on the players, pressuring them into winning, interfering within the team decisions is not praiseworthy, it is wrong on the part of the authority.

The authority should realise their fault and should try to put in all their faith into their team and their team members and believe in their talents, they should be a fair body of judgment without any extra interference within the team and without any unnecessary politics resulting into the doom of both the authority and the players.
