A Brazilian professional footballer who plays for FC Barcelona a Spanish club and captain to the legendary Brazil national football team playing as a forward or a winger. The player has been on the spotlight for his excellent performance. In 2011 at 19 years of age, Neymar came third at the South American footballer award of the year but this did not deter him as he later won the award consecutively in 2011 and 2012. He again won the FIFA goal of the year award in 2011.

The player is well renowned for his acceleration, dribbling skills past other players with ease, ability to use both of his feet well in the field and his finishing. His playing style has been compared to iconic football legend Pele who has called Neymar an excellent and great player. The 24 year old also has an energetic body stature and does not get tired fast while playing but instead plays the full 90 minutes with great skill and energy.

Neymar at 17 years joined Santos in 2003 and his stay there had great outcomes not only for him but also for his team which included being the best young player in 2009 and also named player of the year as Santos won the Campeonato Paulista in 2010. This motivated him even more as in the same year he was the top scorer in Copa do Brasil with 11 goals and his team achieved the double. Santos retained the state title in 2011 with Neymar being renamed player of the year yet again.

Represented Brazil under the age of 17

Neymar has represented Brazil for quite some time now including under 17, under 20, under 23 and now at the national team. He was named in the 2013 confederations cup squad and assigned number 10 shirt. He scored Brazil’s second goal in the 3-0 final win over Spain which made his light shine brighter as he received the golden ball as player of the tournament. The now number 11 jersey bearer captained Brazil at the 2015 Copa America tournament but the team did not make it to the finals. With 46 goals in 70 matches for Brazil, Neymar is the fifth highest goal scorer for his national team and is set to play on for His country’s team at the Olympics this year.

The star player has had a lime light on him from the world football fans and fellow players not forgetting sports magazines. In 2012/2013 sports pro named him the most marketable athlete in the world. The guardian ranked him as the third best player in the world with Messi and Cristiano being in the lead in December 2015. He was again ranked fourth on the world’s most famous athletes list by ESPN as at June 2016.

Joined Barcelona in June 2013

Neymar joined FC Barcelona in June 2013 and in his second 2014/2015 season he scored 31 goals in 49 appearances thus helping the team win La Liga, Copa Del Rey and the UEFA Champions league. He has scored a total of 85 goals in 141 games for Barcelona. Though his last signed deal has two full years left before the deal expires, he has signed a new deal at the club and the contract is up to the year 2021. The youngster is expected to shine more and has a lot more to give and deliver for both his club and home country national team.

This winning streak in the 24 year old is just a beginning he said and that he will not limit his capabilities or let anything put him down in pursuit of his football career but will continue playing the best way he knows how.
