Diego Armando Maradona is widely known as a football king in all parts of the World. He was a former Argentinean Football Captain who alone helped Argentina to win 1986 World Cup. He was being held as a coach at other football clubs as well as Argentina’s national team football coach. Many football fans, current or former players regarded Diego Maradona as all time best player football player in the world. He along with Pele was awarded as the Fifa Player of 20th century. He was an attacking midfielder who yet scored more goals than the strikers due to his outstanding skills.

Maradona was the only player that was known for a record transfer free at two occasions; first when he makes his way to Barcelona for £5 million and second when he was transferred for Napoli for £6.9 million. During his club career, he played for a number of clubs such as Boca Juniors, Newell’s Old Boys, Barcelona, Argentinos Juniors, Barcelona and Napoli. He was most famous for his stay at Napoli when he was able to won numerous awards. When its come to this International career, He scored 34 goals for which he also won 91 Caps along with other awards. His exceptional ball control, passing accuracy, dribbling skills, speed and reflexes with his small height make him enable to take the leader against all the other best football players. The presence of Diego Maradone on the field was a motivation for his team members to perform better against the opponents. Due to his precocious talent, he was given a title of ‘The Golden Boy’  which was associated with his name for his whole football career.

Diego Maradona’s Career

Diego Maradona in his career played four Football Fifa World Cups including the World Cup of 1986 where he alone led his team to victory in the final match against Germany and hence, won the Golden Ball for being regarded as the best player of the World Cup. In the quarter final match between England and Argentina in 1986 World Cup, he scored twice making the final score to 2-1 over England. Against England, he scored a stunning goal over dribbling the five English players and therefore, it was awarded as Goal of the Century by Fifa.

Maradona became the coach of Argentina National team in 2008. In the 2010 Football World Cup featured in South Africa, Maradona was in charge of the Argentina football team. He also coached Al Wasi, a Dubai based football club in the UAE Pro-League in 2011-2012 session. Later on, he joined Argentina Primera D club as a coach.

Banned for 15 months due to cocaine usage

Diego Maradona was sanctioned for using cocaine , he was subject to 15 months ban. As a result, he left Napoli in 1992. Despite, Real Madrid and Olympique Marseille had an interest to sign him but he joined Sevilla, a football club from Spain where he remained for a one year period. He then Joined Newell’s Old Boys in 1993 and made a return to Boca Juniors in 1995 for a contract of two years. Deigo Maradona also played for Tottenham Hotspur when his Osvaldo Ardiles insisted him to play from the Tottenham’s side against Inter Milan in a friendly match after the world cup of 1986.

During his football career at Argentina, he scored 34 goals in a total of 91 appearances where his all goals were scored at very crucial moments. However, he made a debut at Argentina at the age of 16 over Hungary in the year 1977. At the age of 18, Diego Maradona contested the Fifa World Youth Championship where he was awarded the best star of the tournament.
